11 May 2022: Deliveroo has seen the number of orders from customers in Cork increase three and a half times (250%) since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, highlighting the continued popularity of getting favourite restaurant and takeaway dishes delivered to your door in as little as 30 minutes.

Over the last two years Burritos have secured the top spot as the most popular dish in Cork households, closely followed by Piri Piri Chicken and Pad Thai. Popular eateries for dining at home include Soba the Aisan street food restaurant with branches in Blackpool and Carey's Lane; Umi Falafel delivering delectable middle eastern fare from Academy Street; and Roosters Piri Piri specialising in delicious chicken dishes based in Blackpool and Douglas.

More than 80 new restaurants in Cork have joined Deliveroo since March 2020, with Deliveroo providing an additional revenue stream for the Cork city hospitality industry throughout the pandemic, by helping restaurants to keep trading and reach new customers during lockdowns. Deliveroo is committed to supporting the growth of independent restaurants, with new partners including the likes of Burnt Pizza, Man Friday Deli and Black Market Burger joining the platform.

To facilitate the growth of the business in Ireland, Deliveroo recently opened a new office in North Dock in Dublin with the team focusing on business development across Ireland. This is in addition to the more than 3,000 self-employed riders across the country that Deliveroo continues to work with.

Country Director for Ireland at Deliveroo, Breffney Brass said: "We're proud to have supported our restaurant partners and the local community during the pandemic, bringing great food to families and households, as well as providing a vital lifeline to local restaurants. We're excited to see what the future holds for us in Cork as we continue to grow, supporting our partners and delivering what people want right across the city."
